The Arts Society, WGC: A Highland Thing? - 18th to 20th century Scottish art
For many years Scottish artists had to travel south to make their names, but from the end of the 18th century, an independent Scottish art scene became possible. Sir Henry Raeburn was the first artist to find success while remaining in his native land, with Sir David Wilkie one of the first to truly export Scottish art.
