Siegfried Sassoon (Jack Lowden) was decorated for bravery in the First World War, but became a vocal critic of the government's continuation of the war. One of the leading war poets, he was adored by London's literary and stage world. His war experiences and his homosexuality led him on a lifelong quest for salvation, trying to find it within the conformity of marriage and religion.
